Napali Coast- Kauai
Oil painting on Aluminium
24"x48"
Sold
On December of 2017 i travelled to Kauai. I spent a weekend driving around the island visiting scenic views and hiking trails. This painting represents a view from the Napali Coast State Wilderness Park in Princeville HI. Near this point a sign reads "Wai'ale'ale- One of the wettest spots on earth- Elev 5148ft". the trail was a short walk from a pullout easily accessible from a well maintained paved road. the walk was very easy but steep and kind of slippery. i fell a couple of times and my clothes and shoes were permanently stained by the rich red dirt, which i wear in every hike and reminiss on this breathtaking view. I worked on this painting several months after the trips and used several photos from my phone and from my camera. I remember many points were there was no visibility at all because some puffy clouds would ride the edge of the cliff. They were harmless gentle giant cotton candy looking clouds from distance such as in this painting, but when they rolled in it was difficult to see anybody a few yards away, and turned the landscape to a pure omnipresent white that covered all peripherals.
