Yokes -North Shore Oahu- Morning Surf, April 7, 2019
Oil on Aluminum
12"x12"
Morning session at Keawaula Beach in Waialua, HI. Also known as Yokes. Great surf spot. The water is crispy aqua blue. These waves on this morning were umbelievable! The clouds were mirroring the waves in a majestic ultra slow motion, coming down the mountains and cashing into the silver cliffs and into the open sea. The sand seemed like cotton candy so fluffy and soft. Simply a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. it did get very hot right at noon though so i decided not to stick around to paint the wave of beach goers naval activities that were going on. I like to leave this piece as is and invite the viewer into this landscape and inspire the fantasy of being in paradise. This painting is the first to have a carrying case in which the wet painting can be safely transported and stored, and I am fully committed to have this feature be a standard for every piece from now on.
